Clear Aligner | Invisalign
The Invisalign (Clear Aligner) System is an almost invisible way to straighten teeth.
What is Invisalign (Clear Aligners)?
The Invisalign System is a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth. Using innovative 3D imaging technology, the Invisalign System shows your complete treatment plan based on your certified Invisalign doctor’s diagnosis, from the initial position of your teeth to your desired final position. A series of clear aligners are made specifically to move your teeth a little at a time. Each aligner should be worn for about 1-2 weeks, then replaced with the next one in the kit. During the treatment, the teeth will gradually move into the planned position. The duration of treatment depends on your individual needs and will be determined by your doctor.
How does the Invisalign system work?
Invisalign aligners move the teeth in a series of carefully controlled and synchronised movements. At each stage, only certain teeth move according to the Invisalign treatment plan for that stage.
How long does Invisalign last?
The duration depends on the difficulty of the treatment and is usually comparable to conventional braces. On average, the treatment takes 9 to 18 months. The doctor will give you more detailed information during the examination. Studies have shown that after the teeth are shifted to the correct position, they can slowly return to their original position, so it is recommended to wear Vivera retainers at the end of treatment.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible and almost no one will notice that you have aligned your teeth. Since Invisalign aligners are removable, you can eat your usual food and drinks during treatment after removing the aligners. They can also be removed to clean your teeth with a toothbrush and dental floss to ensure oral hygiene. It is recommended to wear an aligner 22 hours a day. Unlike traditional braces, adjusters do not contain metal or wires. This means that, in most cases, repeated appointments with an orthodontist will take less time than braces. The Invisalign System allows you to see the treatment plan and virtual results before you even start.
What is Invisalign treatment?
Most of the patients who want to undergo orthodontic treatment are concerned about the long duration of the treatment, the scarring of the soft tissues in the mouth caused by brackets and wires during this period, and the ideally unaesthetic appearance because it is visible from the outside when they smile. However, today, with the developing technology, treatment with transparent aligners in orthodontic treatment is an alternative to brackets, especially in the young generation and adult patients, and is frequently preferred. Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment method for correcting your teeth consisting of almost invisible, removable series of custom-made aligners. With Invisalign, which is a digital orthodontic treatment technology, tooth movement can be performed with transparent aligners made individually without using wires and brackets. The biggest advantage of Invisalign is that while your teeth are corrected during orthodontic treatment, you can see these positive changes and it is not obvious that you are being treated.
How do the teeth move with Invisalign?
After your orthodontist decides that you are a suitable case for Invisalign, the plaster models obtained from the measurements taken from the mouth are digitally transferred to the computer environment with the 3D scanning method called CAD-CAM or with a digital scanning device. According to the treatment plan determined on the models transferred to the computer environment, modelling is done with computer simulation on the teeth and the teeth are moved. Serial transparent aligners are produced according to the determined treatment plan and duration. With each transparent aligner, 0.05 mm movement is achieved in the teeth. Each aligner is used for an average of 2 weeks and after the desired movement is achieved, the other aligner is switched to the next aligner.
Can the result of treatment with Invisalign be seen before starting the treatment?
You can see your treatment result obtained by simulation on the models transferred to the computer environment in three dimensions. You can follow the movement of your teeth in three dimensions according to the treatment stage you are in during your treatment.
Can everyone be treated with Invisalign?
Invisalign is a treatment method that can be applied at any age from children to adults. Today, with the development of Invisalign technology, it has become a treatment that can be applied in almost every case. However, the point that should not be forgotten here is to have healthy teeth, gums and bone structure as in orthodontic treatment with braces. In cases of mild to moderate crowding with healthy teeth and supportive tissue, your suitability for treatment is evaluated by your orthodontist after examination. In more difficult cases, Invisalign treatment can be combined with wire treatment.
Does treatment with Invisalign take longer than braces?
The duration of orthodontic treatments varies according to the difficulty of the case. Most individuals think that treatment with transparent plates will take longer than treatment with braces. However, contrary to popular belief, Invisalign treatment time is similar or shorter than normal orthodontic treatment time.
How many hours a day should the aligners be worn?
The duration of wearing the aligners affects the course of treatment, success and duration of treatment. The aligners should be worn day and night for at least 20-22 hours a day. The plaques should only be removed when eating and consuming liquids. There is no need to remove them when drinking cold or normal temperature water. Apart from this, small getaways can be made by removing them for 1-2 hours on an important meeting or an important day.
How often are the controls in Invisalign treatment?
The frequency of control with Invisalign varies according to the planning of the case and the procedures to be applied in the control sessions. Generally, short control sessions are held every 4-6 weeks and the new plates to be used in these sessions are delivered. Thus, wherever it is, the treatment can continue by changing the plates every 2 weeks.
Is there pain in Invisalign treatment?
When Invisalign aligners are first fitted, there is pressure and sensitivity for a few days due to the force applied depending on the planned movement. However, the teeth tolerate this pressure in a short time and adapt to this situation.
Do Invisalign aligners affect speech?
Invisalign aligners may disturb the tongue when first fitted. However, after a 1-2 day adaptation period, the tongue will get used to these aligners and will not affect speech.
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
While being treated with Invisalign, your daily life is not negatively affected and the aligners have many advantages.
